Specializing in parliamentary affairs, law and political science, the Library of the Hungarian Parliament keeps it high on its agenda to collect, catalogue and provide documents and information related to international and supranational organizations. For decades now it has given priority to issues connected to the European Communities, the European Union. Whether you just wish to keep abreast of developments or do in-depth research, there is a rich collection of Hungarian and foreign books and periodicals, and related databases, at your disposal in law, political science and history.

The Depository Collection of the European Union was established upon a decision by the European Commission on 22 June 1999. Hungary was the first non-EU country to have such a collection at the time. You can find on open shelves documents published by the Publications Office of the European Union, furthermore, the library's own acquisitions of volumes of essays, monographs and reference works that have been published since 1990. The documents in the collection are arranged into 30 subject groups covering all community policy areas. The collection includes periodicals published by the EU and journals purchased by the library on European law and institutions. You can access recommendations and reports of the European Commission, the Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of Regions in digital databases. The website of the European Union is a free gateway to numerous other databases.

The EU-related books and periodicals of Community law are available in the collection in Hungarian, English, French and German.
