2024. szeptember 15-én megkezdődött az idei „Könyvtár, ami összeköt” elnevezésű ösztöndíjprogramunk, melyen ezúttal öt határon túli és két magyar könyvtáros kolléga ösztöndíjasként, öt budapesti intézmény munkatársa pedig delegáltként vesz részt.

Let us remind you that the European Heritage Days are scheduled for this week, 21-22 September, when the Library of the Hungarian Parliament will offer guided tours around library spaces in English and Hungarian on both days during which you can visit our dedicated vintage-tool- and book-exhibitions as well as discover our 100-year old bookbinding machines.

2024. augusztus 29-30-én a Székelyudvarhelyi Városi Könyvtár ismét megrendezte a Jövő könyvtára elnevezésű konferenciát, amelyet 2018 óta szerveznek meg évenként, és amelynek célja egyes intézmények bemutatása, szakmai tevékenységek ismertetése, valamint a könyvtárak előtt álló, jelen- és jövőbeli kihívások megbeszélése mellett a Kárpát-medencei magyar könyvtárosok közötti kapcsolatépítés és kapcsolattartás. E rangos eseményen idén 99 magyar könyvtáros vett részt a Felvidékről, Kárpátaljáról, Délvidékről, Magyarországról és Romániából. Könyvtárunkat dr. Urai-Tóth Éva főosztályvezető-helyettes, Villám Judit osztályvezető és Maltsik Balázs vezető szakreferens képviselte.

The European Heritage Days, organized annually to draw public attention to the values of our build environment, will take place on 21-22 September this year all around the continent including Hungary. The Hungarian House of Parliament together with the library are regular participants at the event and will join the programme this year, too. We will offer guided tours around library spaces in English and Hungarian on both days during which you can visit our dedicated vintage-tool- and book-exhibitions as well as discover our 100-year old bookbinding machines.

Az ösztöndíj keretében 2024. szeptember 15. és 29. között öt határon túli és két magyarországi szakember tölthet egyidejűleg két hetet az Országgyűlési Könyvtárban.

Szabad György Aradon született 1924. augusztus 4-én. Amint ő maga fogalmazott: magyarnak született a trianoni döntés nyomán Romániába frissen bekebelezett földön, évszázados hazai gyökerekkel bíró zsidó vallású család tagjának született az antiszemitizmus felívelése idején, és polgárnak e létforma fenyegetetté válása küszöbén. Családja 1932-ben Kolozsvárról Budapestre települt át, itt érettségizett 1942-ben. Származása miatt nem vették fel az egyetemre, 1944-ben behívták munkaszolgálatra, ám megszökött, és a nyilasuralom idején bujkálni kényszerült. A front átvonulásakor orosz katonák „munkára” vitték, de onnan is sikerült megszöknie.
