Welcome to the homepage of the Museum of the Hungarian Parliament!

The Museum of the Hungarian Parliament was established in 2014 with the aim of collecting, preserving and exhibiting the mementoes of Hungarian parliamentarism. In the course of its activities, the museum seeks to carry on in the footsteps of its predecessor institution, dissolved in 1949, drawing on its forward-looking ideas, popular initiatives and achievements, while also meeting the challenges of the 21st century.

Our four permanent exhibitions occupying a total area of 1,700 square metres combine traditional and multimedia technology. Young people are the museum’s main target audience, which is why museum education activities are held for groups of different ages linked to each exhibition. Our scope of collecting not only extends to classical documentary material but is also aimed at setting up an extensive digital database. In addition to this, our museum functions as a research workshop: we have two permanent research teams, one studying the history of the massacre on Kossuth Square on 25 October 1956 and the other the art history of the Parliament building.
